In time for Colourgenics' XXV anniversary and for a limited time only, legendary Lightjet 430 Fine Art Photo Prints are available at an explosively low price of $4.99 per square foot. Please read on if you are interested in taking advantage of this offer. Turnaround time for this service is 3 business days. There's no "rush" option available.
  • $4.99/sq.ft prints are offered on 50" Fuji Crystal Archive Semi-matte photographic paper by a linear foot only, with sizes rounded up. Colourgenics does not offer any trimming with this service. Prints are supplied in a roll with protective paper wrapping.

  • Maximum printing dimensions are 10 feet wide by 50" high. Please note that safe printing area is limited to approximately 49.5" inches high.

  • If you supply more than one image at a time, the printer software will attempt to arrange (without rotation) them on paper in the most efficient manner possible with spacing of 1/4" both horizontally and vertically. You will be charged for the actual length of paper containing all the images, rounded up to a next foot (see example below). For ultimate control over placement, consider setting up all your images in one large file.

  • Consider placing borders, cropmarks and trim guides within your printing files.

  • Colourgenics will not reprint or refund prints submitted with errors (ie. wrong images, incorrect exposure, wrong colour space, wrong size, etc.). Please make use of our free workstations in Do-It-Yourself area to preview your files and make any last minute corrections, if needed.

  • Colourgenics makes great effort to maintain our LightJet printing as predictable and stable as possible within technology limitations. You can rely on our machine to be perfectly calibrated and profiled every time you bring in your work for printing. All images are printed with maximum quality settings.

  • $4.99/sq.ft printing is done without operator's intervention. Therefore it is extremely important to follow file setup guidelines outlined below.

    • Your images must be supplied on a CD/DVD or a USB memory key in a format that can be read by any modern Windows and/or Mac computer. Other media types and file systems are not supported.

    • Your image files must be named according to a following convention: your last name first, in lower case - followed by a unique 2 digit number, followed by optional "x2" or "x3", etc., where the numerical value is the number of copies to be printed. Example: raymond01x5.tif. Please refrain from using periods, apostrophes and accents in file names.
ATTENTION: images are grouped according to file names, therefore a failure to name your files consistently might mean that your images will be mixed with someone else's prints.

    • Images must be saved either as 8-bit, RGB TIFF files with no compression or as a JPEG with low compression (90-100%, or 10-12 quality setting in Adobe Photoshop). An image must be flattened (no layers or adjustment layers or effects) and must not contain any extra channels and/or paths. File size limit (uncompressed) is 700 megabytes.

    • All images must be supplied in AdobeRGB1998 colour space. Images supplied in any other colour space will be treated as if they were AdobeRGB, even if you do embed your colour profile with the image. 16-bit per channel images and images with extra channels will be discarded.
Please make sure to convert your grayscale and CMYK images to AdobeRGB1998 colour space. Failure to do so will lead to unpredictable results with regards to printed colour.

    • Image dimensions must be set correctly in Photoshop or other image editing software. For example, if your image needs to be 36"x48" make sure that these are the values in the "Image Size" dialog box in Photoshop.

    • Your images WILL NOT be checked for resolution. LightJet 430 prints at a native hardware resolution of 300dpi, therefore it is not recommended to supply images with resolution exceeding 300dpi at size. If your original image has a lower resoluton - ie. an image from 6 megapixel camera, sized to 20" wide will give you 150dpi - it's best to leave it as is, since Lightjet generally does a great job interpolating up. On the other hand, you can achieve pretty spectacular results using software like Genuine Fractals, Photozoom, etc.

    • Your images WILL NOT be sharpened. Ask our staff for guidance on how to sharpen appropriately for print size / input resolution.
